At the present time there is an acute lack of access to career guidance services in Mongolia. Information on career opportunities is an essential factor to equipping young people with the knowledge and skills needed to invest in their future development. The growth of industry and commerce as a result of Mongolia's transition to a modern market economy has brought about changing demands on the vocational skills required for employment. Relevant and up-to-date information of the variety of professions available and advice on the education and training needed to take advantage of career possibilities is greatly needed to provide young people with a greater chance of leading useful, stimulating and financially rewarding professions.
The MYDF began the initiative to provide career support in 2001 with the launch of The International Education Fair. The annual event has been a great success, involving many international and local exhibitors and attracting numerous visitors each year. The MYDF is now expanding it's career support activities with the introduction of the Future Career Programme, currently being developed to provide young people with access to career counciling services within their own schools and institutions.
